The best way to live
is to be like water……
One who lives in accordance with nature
does not go against the way of things
He moves in harmony with the present moment
always knowing the truth of just what to do
TAO TE CHING, verse 8
Over 90% of members agreed KOKORO was extremely effective in improving their social, emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing

Pause and consider…
What whisper is becoming a shout?
What are you allowing yourself to delight in?
Take a few deep breath, sensing your lower belly, and relax.
Feel the weight of your body held by whatever you are sitting on. Then sense how the earth’s gravity is holding your body.
Let your exhalation completely empty into the earth.
Feel yourself held by something greater and relax into it. Let yourself be held.
Feel that you are seen and loved just as you are.
This simple practice reorients your nervous system to the present experience of being held, as well as your heart to being loved as you are. KOKORO is here for you.

“Consistently being the only Black person or only woman on my team is exhausting. I’ve come close to quitting so many times, but from my first KOKORO meeting I already felt seen and supported and part of a community that wants what’s best for me.
“KOKORO has been a place of peace for me during the most stressful time of my life. Every session is unique and a place for healing and growth.
“This group has been really wonderful to be a part of & work with. It is a safe space to talk about hard truths & I enjoy spending time with these amazing women.
“KOKORO provided the space I needed to examine my beliefs and how they affect my life. Sometimes I thought I was the only one who thought a certain way and realized I’m not alone. Other times, I had to reconsider a fundamental belief when another member of my group shared how they approached life.

The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice–
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do–
determined to save
the only life you could save.
